Looking for a JobStudent

Is the sun always shining, wherever you go?

Then we might have an offer you cannot refuse.

We are looking for a Jobstudent to help us at the reception. We offer you a job in a family atmosphere, but where you have to stay sharp, you run and stand still, you like a dynamic environment and above all: people!

You can send in you application until the 9th of Feb.

Read all the details below.

  • Of course, this might be your dream job. We offer a informal working space in which you are able to work quite independantly and run the show!

What does a day at the office look like?

You start 15 minutes before the reception opens. You check the amount of arrivals and based on this you can estimate if you can combine this with some other work around the reception.

We walk with each person or group that arrives to the camping area. You give them a warm welcome with a personal touch and tell them all they need or want to know.

You make sure the booking administration is up to date and you answer the phone.

There will be busy days, there will be quiet days. Therefore you also help us keeping the place neat and clean. You help our in the morning with our bread service. You open the bar area, check the storages of drinks and snacks, prepare the wood for a fire in the evening.

You like gardening, or are interested in learning this (no knowledge required). And you go for a walk around the campsite on a regular base to check if everybody is on a good spot, happy and sound.

  • You are a real host, you love to make people feel welcome, you are curious in what people might want to ask you, you like to help out and are always looking for something to do.

    We need some hawks-eyes around.

You know your way around with the computer to check the reservations, but you also love to help in the garden or do some general cleaning in the garden or the terrace on quiet moments.

You can work independently, but are not afraid to ask us anything.
You have a social radar: if something seems off the hook, you will ask for our help.

  • You are minimum 20 years old.

    You study in Belgium.

You speak at least 2 languages fluently, great if you can also speak a 3rd language on a basic level.
    English + German/French/Dutch.

You are 400-475 hours available in total during the season. This means you have no other jobs as a jobstudent or maximum 75 hours.

  • We offer a relaxed working athmosphere, but we do expect a professional attitude. Our aim is to work trust based and that we can rely on each other.

You can expect a lot of happy people, some challenging situations (fun!), smiling faces around a camp fire and kids asking for ice cream.

Our living room in next to the reception so you will be involved in a part of our private life. No worries, we love that. We hope you will love it too.

We have to boys, age 4 and 7, who will probably pass by often for a little chat.
    Welcome to the family!

    FACILITIES

For this job we offer you a nice caravan on our property, where you can cook and sleep. You can use the sanitary facilities of the campsite, there is also a washing machine and a dryer.

A bicycle is available for you to cycle to Eupen, for example.

A car is handy but not necessary, you can also take the bus or hitchhike.

You can invite 1 friend or family member to visit you. Do you want more friends to visit at the same time? This will be charged at the standard rate. Please contact us if they are coming by car and the campsite is busy, we have limited parking spaces.

    FEE

The fee is around 2074 euro / month based on a full time (38h p/w) job.

  • DATES

Your first weeks will be from April 25 - May 11.
Then we have some holiday weekends , we prefer you to attend at least 2 out of 3:

    • Ascention 29/5-1/6

    • Pentecost 6-9/6

    • Fronleichnam 19-22/6

In high-season - July and August - you work between 7 and 9 weeks.

    HOURS

You work during the reception hours:

    8.15h - 12.15 and 17:45 - 20.15
    or
    14:45 - 20:15

This means you work between 5,5 - 6,5 hours a day. Maximum 38 hours a week.

You are also of great help if you are an evening bird to host the campfire in the evening till 22h, but this is on a voluntairy base.

  • We will be looking forward to your email: camping@montdragon.be and can be addressed to us - Esther & Thomas.

Please note all the conditions before applying. If you do match, but only have limited time (min 300h), please feel welcome to reach out to us.

Come and help us for a week or two

We are looking back at our first seasons; full of energy!
So much fun and time consuming. Which is lovely, but it is realistic to have more hands to help. We prefer people to stay about two weeks or more; when you are here for a longer time period, you’ll find your own way around. You can come with your own tent/van/caravan, we might have a caravan available on the campsite. You can send us an e-mail for more details, and to let us know your interests - it would be great to get to know you better. We are happy to answer questions and get in touch. You work 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, you will have a place to stay and food. Singles, couples, families - all welcome as long as your time is guaranteed.
Here below you find an impression of the work that needs to be done, with an indication of the months we need help.

Gardening

As we are getting to know the garden now, taking away most invasive weeds, we are also starting a small vegetable garden.

In the main garden we will not intervene too much, but already just looking, taking away here and there, is some hours of work every day.

There are beautiful beddings on the campsite which the previous owners planted. We did not have the time yet to have a good look at this so help is definitely needed.

We are happy to gain more knowledge and see how we can integrate a vegetable garden, permaculture, rain water, etc.

PRIME TIME: APRIL / MAY / JUNE / OCT.

All round host & facility

The world keeps on turning..
There are all the daily activities that just don’t stop. Think about a sweep after a cosy night around the campfire, keeping the communal areas nice and organised. Checking if all the games in the cabinet are still in tact, if there is some wood to cut? Are the containers full?
Enough ice-cream in the freezer? .. You name it.

Always nice to having some hawk's eyes around.

In high season we often have many people arriving at the same time. We chat with people, welcome them and show them around. Being close to the reception is already worth a lot, answering simple (or difficult ;)) questions or selling a drink from the fridge/ bar. Hosting the fire in the evening and connecting with our guests.

PRIME TIME: MID JULY / AUGUST

Au Pair

We have two boys, 4 and 7 years old. They are happy, love to explore or have someone who reads them a book. It would be great if you are around to give them the attention they need. Depending on your skills/interests/commitment we shape your tasks. Your help is definitely for two weeks or more, in order to bond with the kids. You can also have kids yourself, or come as a family.

PRIME TIME: SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
MAY / JULY / AUGUST

Terrain

In April we will mostly prepare the terrain. Prune the hedges (!), mow the lawn, fix things..
This will be very important.

Example of a project:

  • We are taking away branches from the dry creek in the middle of our terrain, realising a better connection between the grass pitches and the forest.

  • Moving branches is quite a day job. We haul them to the borders of our terrain to make a nice natural wall.

  • During the season we take away the most invasive plants.

PRIME TIME: APRIL / MAY / JUNE / OCT.

Sustainability & Construction

We can sum up quite a few smaller or bigger projects. This would not be our main concern for running the season of 2025, but is definitely on top of our mind in general. If you like to stay over and help us think or build the following or something related, it is also great hearing from you.

Examples: Build a green house / Improved garbage system / Building a small hut / Making a bridge / Improving the bridge above the river / Helping us with renovating the small studio on the campsite / or with requesting Belgium subsidies.

PRIME TIME: MARCH / APRIL / JUNE / SEPT. / OCT.

Cook

This is a brain fart, but if we would have some people walking around to help, it would also be great if there is somebody who can make dinner. Maybe we can solve it with the group and everybody makes dinner once or twice a week, maybe it is just great to be guaranteed of a wholesome meal.

If you are a self employed cook/pizza builder, you can also contact us to see if you can make food for the guests. Feel free to contact us for details.
